It was 1903 when 20-year-old William S. Harley, with his friend Arthur Davidson, made the first prototype of their motorcycle. This was later released in 1905 as Model No. 1. By 1906, Harley & the Davidson brothers built their first factory on Chestnut Street, which is their current headquarters.
With over 120 years of history, the iconic brand continues to evolve but stays true to its roots and excellent craftsmanship. Presently, these cruiser bikes are sold in over 60 countries, making it one of the most recognizable brands globally. Its V-twin engine, introduced in 1909, is known for its distinctive sound. The supply of its motorcycles to the US military during WWI & WWII gave it a permanent place in American history.
With over 1 million members, Harley Owners Group [est. 1983] is the largest factory-sponsored motorcycle club. Some famous models like Sportster [1957], Electra Glide [1965], etc., have their permanent place in the hearts of bike lovers. The company launched its first electric motorcycle in 2019 and has appeared in many Hollywood movies like X-Men Origins: Wolverine [2009], Black Panther, Captain America [2011, 2012, 2014], and many more.
